Translation, Explicit / deductive grammar teaching, Memorisation of vocabulary / grammar rules.
The teacher initiates. There is little of sts' initiation. So mostly from teacher to student. S - S interaction: when one of the students asks one thing the other one answers it. If the peer cannot answer then the teacher tells the truth.
Sts' feelings are not important in this method.
Literal language is superior over spoken language. Culture is viewed as literature.
Both grammar and vocabulary. Reading and writing.
Meaning is made clear through using native language.
Give a passage and want them to translate. Vocabulary.
It is a must to give a correct answer. Your job is to teach vocabulary and grammar. Students errors are seen as a natural, indispensable part of the learning process. The teacher uses students' errors.
