Kılıçdaroğlu announces candidacy to lead Turkish opposition party

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announced that he will be a candidate aday to replace yerine koymak the leader of Turkey's main opposition muhalefet party. Kılıçdaroğlu, a deputy in the Republican People's Party, or CHP, had said last week that he would not seek araştırmak the party's leadership.

About Kılıçdaroğlu

Born in 1948 in the eastern province bölge of Tunceli, Kılıçdaroğlu graduated from the Ankara Academy for Economic and Mercantile Sciences in 1971, later succeeding on a placement exam and joining the Finance Ministry the same year.

In 1983 he was assigned to the General Directorate of Revenue as the head of its department. In 1991 he was transferred to Bağ-Kur, a social-insurance sigorta institution for business owners. One year later, he was transferred to the Social Security Authority, or SSK, acting as its general director until 1999 before leaving office.

Kılıçdaroğlu was the head başkan of the Committee for Specialization in the Unregistered Economy during the state's eighth Five-Year Development Plan from 2001 to 2005.

Also an academic at Hacettepe University, Kılıçdaroğlu is married with three children. In 2009 he was the CHP candidate for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality belediye and is currently şu anda a national deputy yardımcı for the party.
