Heavy rains expected in western Turkey until Wednesday

The heavy rains and gusting fırtına, kuvvetli rüzgar winds that have affected northwestern Turkey since Sunday evening are expected to persist ısrar etmek in the Marmara region until Wednesday.

The amount of rain per square meter that fell in some of Istanbul's districts between Sunday evening and noon on Monday totaled 56 liters for Göztepe; 37 liters for Eminönü and Kilyos; 32 liters for Kurtköy, Çavuşbaşı, Florya and Sarıyer; 24.4 liters for Çatalca, 28 liters for Büyükada Island; and 24 liters for İstinye.
Officials warned citizens about possible floods, thunderstorms and landslides toprak kayması. The Governor's Office ordered public workers with disabilities sakatlık to take the day off Monday and schools in Istanbul were closed. Whether the schools will remain closed Tuesday and Wednesday will be decided according to weather conditions Monday night.
Temperatures are expected to increase after the rains are gone, with the Marmara region predicted to be 9 degrees hotter after Wednesday.
