Beklenilenin Tersinde Zıtlık Bildiren Yan Cümlecik Bağlaçları
Belli bir durumda beklenmedik bir zıtlık (concessive contrast) belirtirken birçok farklı bağlaç kullanılabilir.
Bu bağlaçların ilk grubu birbirinin yerine kullanılabilien "although," "though," ve "even though" dan oluşur. Bu bağlaçlar yan cümleciğin başına gelir ve eger yan cümlecik temel cümleceğin önüne yazılırsa sonuna virgül eklenir.
Although/Though/Even though the girl is so young, she is so experienced. (Kız çok genç olmasına rağmen oldukça deneyimli.)
Though/Although/Even though I'd studied for many hours for the exam, I couldn't get high mark (Sınav için sattlerce çalışmış olmama rağmen yüksek not alamadım.)
The child can play the guitar perfectly although/ though he is 6 years old. (Çocuk 6 yaşında olmasına rağmen gitarı mükemmel çalabiliyor.)
"although/though/even though" 'dan sonra yer alan temel cümlecikte anlamı güçlendirmek için cümleye "yine de" anlamı katan "nevertheless" veya "still" kullanılabilir.
Although/Even though they are so wealthy, they nevertheless/still don't waste their money. (Çok varlıklı olmalarına rağmen yine de paralarının çarçur etmezler.)
Concessive contrast bildiren bağlaçların ikinci grubu olarak yine birbirlerinin yerine kullanılabilen "despite the fact that, in spite of the fact that" ve "notwithstanding the fact that" kalıplarını inceleyebiliriz.
Despite the fact that he is married, he has 2 girl friends, too (Evli olmasına rağmen 2 de kız arkadaşı var.)
Inspite of the fact that they have seen everything, they don't tell anything. (Herşeyi gördükleri halde hiçbirşey anlatmıyorlar.)
Notwithstanding the fact that we have enough money, we won't buy that car. (Yeterli paramız olmasına karşın o arabayı satın almayacağız.)
"Even if" de anlamca zıtlık ifade edebildiği için onu da bu başlık altında sayabiliriz.
You cannot win the competition even if you try hard. (Çok denesen bile yarışmaya kazanamazsın.)
I don't work there even if it is my last chance. (Son sanşım olsa bile orada çalışmam.)
