Vurgu Cümleleri 2 - What-clefts

Türkçe'ye "şey" olarak çevirebileceğimiz "What-cleft" ler cümleye vurgu vermenin başka bir yoludur.

What-clefts sentence structure - Cümlenin kuruluşu

• What the world desperately needs today is an echological solution. (Bugün dünyanın çaresizce ihtiyaç duyduğu şey ekolojik çözümdür.)

• An echological solution is what the world desperately needs. (Ekolojik bir çözüm, dünyanın çaresizce ihtiyacı olan şeydir.)

• Türkçe’ye “kişi” ya da “şey” olarak çevirebileceğimiz, bu cümleye benzer yapısını şu şekilde de kurabiliriz: "The One who ...." 

• The one who was supposed to study for three hours were you. (Üç saat ders çalışması gereken kişi sendin.)

Bu cümlede üç saat çalışması gerekenin sen (you) olduğunu vurgulamış oluyoruz.

• The one which you should have brought back me was a diet coke, not fanta! (Bana geri getirmen gereken şey diyet kolaydı, fanta değil!)

Vurgu “diyet kola”da.
